Summer Update for Stormrider
Hope everyone is having an awesome day!
Writing update: Stormrider: A Local War Story is still in its first copy edit. Finished page 424 of 494 pages (paperback format) today.
I’ve also started the second copy edit and first line edit of the early chapters. The author’s group I’m part of completed their critiques of the first draft of the novel, so now I’m submitting the early chapters again in their edited form. Chapters 1-7 will be final next week (first 50 pages).
On that note, I’ve decided I’m going to test the waters with traditional publishing. I will submit Stormrider to several literary agents and to DAW Books, my favorite traditional publisher, once I complete the first line edit of the entire novel. Hopefully, I’ll get a bite. If not, I’ll self-publish it like my Andromeda Rhoades trilogy.
So why traditional publishing? One word: Marketing. I hate marketing. I’m not good at it, nor do I have the time needed to do it right given that I also have a fulltime day job. If a traditional publisher can handle the marketing, I can focus on writing. Pipe dream? Maybe. But you never know if you don’t try.
Quick shout out to the fantastic authors I work work with: sassypantswriter, r.r.peaceauthor, melisa.p.lewis, and Kasey Fallon.
Till next time!
